What can I say about myself? I’m a college student studying Elementary Education with an English minor, which basically just means I get to take the English classes I want and stay an extra semester, plus play with kids and learn to teach. I love reading, writing, knitting, baking, and spending time with people I like.
When I’m at home I live with my mom and dad, my younger sister Debbie, and my brothers Matthew and David. We usually all get along, though Matt and I tend to butt heads a lot. We also have a menagerie of critters–5 cats (Lilly, Lucy, Ellie Mae, Joey, and Floppy), a big drooly dog named Sirius, and a bunny named Shadow who is almost never called by his name and who lives at my mom’s preschool most of the time. I love our critters (except maybe Sirius, who is big and loud and drooly and definitely not small and cuddly like the cats and the bunny). I love my family too, even Matt.
During the school year I live in a dorm, which I love. All the girls are really nice and I have fun baking things for the girls on my unit and knitting where people can see me. I love taking classes and all the professors (well, most of them) are really nice. I have a job there, tutoring a little girl named Jacksyn. She is absolutely adorable and I love her. I’m also going to be working in the Writing Center starting Fall 2009, so that should be fun. I enjoy editing other people’s writing.
In the summer, I work at Cedar Campus up on the upper peninsula of Michigan. I’m on the Program Crew, which means that I get to play with kids every week for the whole time I’m there (most of the summer). It doesn’t pay very well, but it’s a ministry and it gives me experience working with kids. I love it. It’s beautiful up there and the people are nice. The kids occasionally drive me batty, but that’s kids for you.
I plan to use this blog mainly to keep my dad up to date on what I’m doing and how I’m feeling about life. I’m not sure if anyone will really read it other than him, but I write anyways, because I love my dad.
